1. What does it mean that Alex is a "Web-based" solution?

It means that once you deploy Alex on your hospital's server, workstations on the network can access the applications through Internet Explorer. The pure Internet architecture means that no software (like Microsoft Access) needs to be deployed on the workstations.

2. Is Alex a hosted (ASP) solution?

No. Alex is deployed on your server, behind your firewall, on your Intranet. Since it is not a "hosted" solution, you have complete control of your information. Hospitals have the option of exposing the solution to the Internet for remote users with passwords, but are more likely to run Alex exclusively on their own Intranet.

3. Why is "Web-based" better?

Since no software other than a browser needs to be installed on the workstations deployment, upgrades, and maintenance are simplified. Also, workstation hardware requirements are minimal, and it's easy to expand the number of workstations.

5. Are there standard reports?

Yes. There are certain reports that are applicable to all customers, such as Tray Location and Tray Utilization. Customers also have the option of custom and ad-hoc reports.

6. Can customers run their own custom reports?

Since all of the data is stored in a SQL database, ad-hoc reporting needs can be met with common database reporting tools. Customers can also download standard reports into Excel with the push of a button for additional custom analysis.
